Traffic Stop On Market Street Leads To 2 Arrests; Firearm Recovered

At approximately 8:30 p.m., deputies assigned to the Downtown Safety Initiative conducted a traffic stop near the 200 block of Market Street after observing a vehicle speeding southbound. The driver, Montez Chubb, was found to be driving on a suspended license. Four additional occupants were in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. One occupant, Kenneth Moore, was found to have outstanding warrants for disorderly conduct, vandalism, evading arrest, aggravated riot, and reckless endangerment. The driver, Chubb, was charged with speeding, driving on a suspended license, and unlawfully carrying or possessing a firearm. Kenneth Moore was arrested by HCSO on Saturday, in connection to a fight involving 10 individuals at a Tyner Academy basketball game on November 20th. The affidavit about the incident says an HCSO deputy was stationed at the entrance of the basketball game. Mountain Creek Quarry Property To Become A Park Following $1,740,000 TDEC Acquisition Grant

The grant is for $1,740,000. The property includes open space, an old quarry, and springs and ponds including Read's Lake. It also is the site of the tallest post oak in the U.S. at 112 feet. Residents say the former golf course property is a haven for wildlife, including river otters, deer, wild turkeys, fox, bobcats and waterfowl. Police responding to pitbull mauling in Tennessee find grandfather and infant dead
